I really got into windsurfing about 10 or 12 years ago when I was living and working in North Carolina, close to Hatteras. Initially, I just loved being able to be in the water, but I got hooked once I startedplaning (hydroplaning) in the harness and footstraps. I knew then I had to make a lifestyle change.

I’ve been living in the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon for the past several years so that’s where I windsurf most. On a windy (and not too cold) day I’ll be at the Hatchery, Doug’s Beach, or the wall.
Living in the Gorge, I’ve been into Freestyle for the last several years. But last year’s trip to Hawaii made me remember how fun wave sailing is so I’m trying to spend more time in the waves this year. I had fun racing slalom (at the Nationals in San Francisco), and I am planning on getting gear for that so I can start training when the conditions are not epic for wave sailing or freestyle.

I’ve been traveling to awesome places already like Brazil, Venezuela, Mexico. Maui, Hawaii is incredible for windsurfing and a place I’ll keep going back to. But I keep thinking about Australia. I’d love to plan a trip there sometime.
